Tim Rooney Grabs Super Production Win and Second Overall at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood

PMR Motorsports driver Tim Rooney and co-driver Anthony Vohs finished second overall, and first in the Super Production class, in last weekend’s Rally in the 100 Acre Wood. Posting an overall time of 2:06:39.0, Rooney and Vohs held off Cameron Steely and Preston Osborn by just under a minute in the #47 PMR Motorsports SR009. The result was especially significant for the duo, as PMR Motorsports outfitted Rooney with Cooper Tires for the first time over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
“100 Acre Wood has always been good to us, and with our new Cooper Tires on Tim’s car, this year was more of the same,” said PMR Motorsports team principal Pat Moro. “We knew we’d have our work cut out for us in 2018 after we took a double podium last year, but Tim and Anthony were solid, consistent, and unfazed on the roads. We’re especially pleased with how the new Cooper compound we used held up, and we can’t wait to put it to the test again as the season continues.”
After taking second overall, the Super Production victory, and five overall stage wins in January’s Sno*Drift, Rooney’s defense of last year’s Rally America SP title continued in Missouri. Fourth overall and second in class at the end of the first day, he jumped into the class lead and second overall on the Potosi Super Special stage and never looked back. Paired with Vohs for the first time this season, the shift in the co-driver’s seat couldn’t hold the #47 team back.
“It’s great to be back on the podium at 100 Acre Wood,” said Rooney. “Last year, Pat won the Super Production class and finished second overall; this year, it was my turn. Racing with Anthony for the first time this year was a blast, and we felt our Cooper Tires gave us a great advantage over the rest of the field. Bring on Southern Ohio—we can’t wait to go for the overall win at our home race!”
PMR Motorsports will return to action in its home event, the Southern Ohio Forest Rally, this May 18-19 in Chillicothe, OH.
