Double Podium at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood for PMR Motorsports

After showing plenty of promise in the season-opening Sno*Drift with stage wins from both entries, PMR Motorsports looked to make good on that potential in last weekend’s Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in Salem, Missouri. When all was said and done, the team had plenty of hardware to bring home: Pat Moro and Ole Holter won the Super Production class and placed second overall, while Tim Rooney and Rachelle Kaltak took third in SP and were one spot away from the overall podium in the second event of the 2017 Rally America season.

“I’m so excited to be back on the podium at a Rally America event,” said Moro. “This is the kind of result that we knew we could achieve this weekend, with both Tim and me on the Super Production podium and Ole navigating us to second place overall, and we expect a lot more of these kinds of runs this year.

“We can’t wait to welcome our friends and competitors to our home event in Southern Ohio in May. As co-chairman of the event, I’m bummed that I won’t be running myself, but I look forward to doing everything I can to ensure the success of the event and making it a great time for our competitors!”

Moro and Holter chased the Open class entry of Art Gruszka and Lukasz Wronski for the overall lead, snagging a stage win at Asbridge Hollow to kick off the Saturday action. They were one of only three pairings to score stage victories during the event, backing up the early speed shown at Sno*Drift before mechanical issues ended their weekend early. At event’s end, Moro and Holter conquered the course in 1:48:30.7.

Rooney and Kaltak, meanwhile, were among the fastest drivers on the roads all weekend long. Ranking sixth overall at the end of day one, they posted top-three times in four of the final seven stages to climb the ranks, including the fastest Super Production times in each of the final three stages of the rally.

“Getting on the podium at the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood is a strong finish that we can be proud of,” said Rooney. “Dating back to last year, we’ve earned three podiums in our past four starts. It’s proof that the PMR Motorsports cars are among the best on the grid, and that’s all that Rachelle and I can ask for. We can’t wait to shoot for even better results over the rest of the year!”

PMR Motorsports’ next event will be its home race, the inaugural Southern Ohio Forest Rally based in Chillicothe, Ohio. Featuring the return of some of America’s most iconic stage roads, SOFR will boast one of the deepest fields on the 2017 Rally America calendar with over six dozen entries filed for the May 19-20 event.
